The election results are in for the March 5 primaries and Hood County voters expressed their confidence in many current office holders.
Hood County had a 30.14% voter turnout with 14,998 votes being cast of the 49,754 registered voters.
In most races, there were no candidates for Hood County offices in the Democratic primary. Therefore, the Republican nominees will be elected or reelected to office in the general election Nov. 5.
Key election winners included incumbent Roger Deeds with a win of the Republican nomination for the office of Hood County Sheriff with 8,597 votes; challenger Johnny Rose Jr. garnered 1,028 votes while Scott London received 3,770 votes.
Kevin Andrews, incumbent, won the primary for County Commissioner Precinct 1 with 1,743 votes over Morris Duree, who garnered 816 votes.
Incumbent Jack Wilson earned the Republican nomination for County Commissioner Precinct 3 with 2,817 votes. Challenger Nate Criswell received 1,176 votes.
John Shirley, incumbent, won the Republican primary for the office of Constable Precinct 2 with 2,344 votes over Steve Smith with 1,395 votes.
Incumbent Randy Ellis is the Republican nominee for Constable Precinct 3 with 1,977 votes over Greg Neal. Neal received 1,691 votes.
A runoff election will be necessary for the Republican nominee for Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 between Sissy Freeman and Clint Head since neither candidate received more than 50% of the votes. Freeman received 1,048 votes whereas Head received 1,021 votes.
